It has illustrations as well as full-color photos. The back contains a list of high-frequency sight words, a picture dictionary, a page on Komondor dog facts, and reading tips for the grown-ups who are reading with beginning readers. I loved this book!

As a retired literacy instructor I found these titles to be high interest and great for beginning readers. The patterned text, visual cues, and emphasis on sight words will make these very popular for an early reader.
My 6 year old loves Carolyn’s books! She reads them confidently and with ease.
I love all the wonderful additional information Carolyn provides at the end of the stories to create more opportunities to learn and discuss topics with my daughter.
Fall: Colours and Squirrels by Carolyn Wild charmingly encapsulates the essence of autumn through the eyes of squirrels. Set against the vibrant backdrop of a forest in fall, this book stands out for its engaging narrative that gently guides young readers on a delightful quest for nuts. This is a very cute first sight word book. The photographs are nice and the graphics very child friendly. Love the extras at the back of the book. Makes reading to a child easy and it is a great book for beginners!!
This early reader is a treasure because it educates, engages, and entertains all at once. The subtle clues make decoding a joy, and the pictures bring the ranch to life in a special way. My reluctant reader ate it up, so we will definitely be checking out the rest of the series.

My students are very engaged when they read the simple text that has helping icons. The pictures are cute and help to keep their interest. Kids will read these books over and over again! We need these in our home reading bins at my school.
This book is perfect for emergent readers. The pictures elicit conversation with students and I like the way there are subtle “hints” to help kids with the high frequency words. All kindergarten and grade one classes should have this book series available to students.
I love this series! Excellent gift for the beginning reader!
I just wanted to thank you for the books given to the Strong Start program…they are well loved and beautifully done.
This series of books for early readers is amazing. The pictures are cute and encourage discussion. I love how Ms. Wild has added “facts” at the end to help teachers and parents go beyond the simple text with children. The children at my school LOVE these books.
