I have been teaching Kindergarten for many year and grade one before that. This is a perfect choice for your beginning reader. The author uses many engaging strategies to support a child’s learning to read journey. Patterned language ,coloured font, and pictures that support some words. She even uses the googley eyes for the word ‘look’! In this book ‘big’ is used with large font and ‘little’ is used with a smaller font. I love that she has a picture dictionary and a high frequency sight words page. Carolyn always ends her books with a non fiction page about the feature animal. In this book, it’s the Komondor dog. In addition, she includes a website to find more information!! Love, love all her books!
